Exploring New Frontiers in India’s Workplace Projects Beyond the Usual Metrics

By Charles Corley | 02/15/2024

My experience in strategizing and delivering workplace projects across India has revealed an evolving landscape. Traditionally focused on cost, quality, and schedule, weโ€™re now seeing a shift towards more complex demands.

Here is what I have noticed:

Understanding the cultural and regional diversity of India is crucial. Localized strategies are essential in each state and city for effective project delivery. This still requires expert knowledgeable project leadership but now with holistic and integrative insights.

IPD has revolutionized outcomes through early and inclusive collaboration. The involvement of global experts via virtual tools is enhancing efficiency and quality.

Embracing sustainable materials and energy-efficient designs has reduced costs and bolstered environmental sustainability for reduction in carbon footprint and operating carbon. Modular design and offsite construction is proving both aesthetically pleasing and cost-effective.

Innovations like visual estimating together with robust and transparent cost monitoring tools are more sophisticated thus helping to capture opportunities for cost effectiveness, minimize errors and streamline project management. Other technology tools monitor wellness and provide data for human-centric considerations.

Greater emphasis in the approach to reduces waste and increases value, requiring hands-on, holistic integrative leadership for effective implementation that begins at the earliest stages by incorporating goals in sustainability and supply chain management.

Continuous training of the workforce is key to maintaining high standards and safety, marking a significant shift in India’s construction practices to higher standards of site management and safety.

Clients are requesting services beyond the traditional scope, like digital twins, workplace sensing, strategies for DEI, wellness initiatives, helping to expand and verify the brief as well as to navigate the regulatory landscape.

8. ๐‚๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ฎ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐Œ๐จ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ : Proactive early involvement by integrative leadership in projects, long before commencement of any workplace project, is becoming more common. Monitoring and adapting of the intended building even while it is under construction by a developer, providing independent advice to ensure the building aligns with client needs.

I’m curious about your experiences in this changing field.
